Your first appointment

It is a good idea to arrive about 5-10 minutes early for your first appointment, allowing time to fill out a brief medical history form and discuss issues or concerns. Wear clothing that is easy to get in and out of and will be comfortable after your massage. Please remove jewelry (wedding bands optional).

You will be left alone to undress and drape yourself with a linen. You will be asked to lie either face up or down on the table. Before entering the room, the therapist will knock on the door to be sure you are draped and ready for the session to begin. During the massage, you are encouraged to communicate with your therapist if you experience any discomfort. Although massage is primarily pleasant, there can be occasions when an area is particularly sensitive.

Always let your therapist know if you are feeling uncomfortable. In order for the body to best receive massage, gentle stretching is often done before hand to open joints, stretch and release muscle fibers, and send proprioceptive messages to the muscles, telling them to relax. Your massage may vary based on individual needs, but most consist of a variety of strokes such as gliding and kneading. Again, you are encouraged to communicate with your therapist and ask questions if you have any.

Remember....this is your massage! After your massage, you will be given a bottle of spring water. It is always important to drink plenty of water after a massage to help flush toxins that been released in your system
